          Galaxy of Stars

We think they only come out at night, but stars are everywhere in this daytime workshop!  For quilters, this remains one of the most beloved of blocks.  In the first half of this workshop we will look at Debby's sample star quilts (several), star blocks and then the component parts of the most common stars.  We will look at drafting a basic star, how to make it any size with tips for no-math solutions, and students will receive worksheets that will enable them to create the basic units found in most star blocks.
Many stars can be paper pieced, so we will learn the basics of paper piecing and practice making several star patterns that Debby provides.  We will continue into the afternoon sewing and playing with the "star parts" and then explore other star drafting possibilities.  In both the morning and afternoon we will discuss various setting options.
